WSU-TFREC/Postharvest Information Network/Tree Fruit Market Diseases/harvestbruise

Bruises resulting from rough handling during picking and packing are easily recognized. They are usually small and shallow, but may be numerous, and the skin covering them is normal or only slightly discolored. The bruised flesh may be only slightly discolored or it may be brown. Initially the injured flesh is soft, but within a few days it becomes dry and spongy.
